The position and tasks

Stevenson is looking for translators into French. Candidates are passionate about their profession, they respect the meaning of the original source text, and tone, and they are creative. Candidates will also have to perform terminology research in different specialized fields, and show that they have the ability to understand the original meaning and express this idea in their native tongue.


Translate texts comfortably at a pace of 1500 to 1800 words a day

In-depth knowledge of Canadian French, grammar, syntax, etc.

Adaptation to both author styles and readers

Ability to work alone, as a team member, and under pressure

Ability to meet tight deadlines

Terminology research

Attention to detail

Use of Trados


Prerequisites

Experience in a translation environment, an asset

Experience in proofreading of French texts, an asset

Willingness to work on different texts: general, specialized, AND technical

Confirmed computer skills in a Windows environment and with Trados

Excellent knowledge of the source language: English

Excellent writing skills

Other criteria

Bachelor’s degree in Translation or equivalent education

Experience with Trados

Experience with the MS Office suite

In-depth knowledge of another field is an asset

Ability to work under pressure

Ability to multitask

Ability to develop excellent relations with colleagues and clients

Professionalism, open-mindedness, autonomy, conscientiousness, efficiency

Member of OTTIAQ or ATIO (Note: Being certified is mandatory, you must be willing to become certified if you are not already.)
